The story of this list

About two weeks ago I discovered that everything we had left in storage when we moved abroad is now gone.

Or more specifically, "long gone."

A day later I bought two blank notebooks, one to record a List of Things Lost and the other I've titled MEMORIES FOUND.

I'll share them both here as the list grows and the memories are captured.

Oh, Angela! Is there any hope of getting your things back? In the meantime, keep writing, and I'll keep hoping they turn up.

Natalie,
Well...we always have hope and we're still trying to track down more details. But even digging for information - like when the unit was emptied and researching payments with my husband's employer takes time!!!

I did ask for clarification on 'long gone' and was told 'before this year'

Realistically, I think chances are slim.

Sending big HUGS Angela! I'm so sorry that your things are long gone. We have a lot of stuff in storage that's (hopefully) still there, but someone near us had mothballs, so everything is pretty much ruined. I haven't been able to get rid of it all yet though - lots of sentimental things there.

I hope that you are able to track down the details and get back your things!!!!

stephanie,
I'm sorry your stuff got ruined in storage! But, how did it happen with mothballs? I've never used them but I thought they kept mice / bugs out of your stuff.
My bil uses them to keep skunks out of his yard!

Thanks angela. Everything in our storage unit smells like mothballs, and that's a smell that you can't really get out of things (especially clothes or anything made of fabric). Plus mothballs are really bad for asthma, so we can't keep most of the stuff in there. Metal seems to be ok, but I'm not sure about plastic or wood.

Still keeping my fingers crossed that you will be able to get your things back!!

Stephanie,
Yes! Mothballs stink to the max. They must if they keep skunks away! I hope you can preserve some of your things.

We're going through the motions to try to find out the status of our things though without much hope of actually seeing our stuff again.

Maybe we can find out what happened and that might prevent this from happening to someone else!

I got sick to my stomach when I saw this on verlas. I'm so sorry.

Lindsey,
Sorry you're feeling sick. That's how I feel at times. The trouble with remembering is that it leads to more remembering...
Thanks for checking out the LIST.
